| Elio was born in
1964 in Udine, north-east Italy. He got a
degree in computer science at the
University of Udine and still works in
this field, for a large italian company.
However, he never abandoned his passion
for art, which at some point of his life
became an imperative calling, finding in
the Internet's artistic community a
fertile environment for his developing. |
"I am an artist who is
reluctant to place himself within the limitations
of a single stylistic tendency, as surrealism
could be considered. As post-modern artists,
quite detached from the historical and hysterical
vicissitudes of all those avant-garde waves, we
can afford to play with different styles of
expression (as part of "contemporary
language") in the same way we use different
materials or media, that is without relying on
outdated, when not demagogic or instrumental,
ideologies. This does not necessarily imply an
ironic, tired and superficial attitude: art
remains a serious thing because it has ultimately
to do with the meaning of life. Rather, it
recognizes that each life is a serious issue, not
only those of the few that power dictates to
enter in the "grand narratives" of art.
Said that, I feel myself especially linked to
surrealism by the fascination for dreams, for the
revelatory power of the hallucinatory visions you
can continue to project on the old spotted
Leonardos wall".
