My work deals with my own experience
through traumatic situations, how medicine was an
important part of my childhood and how enduring
certain physical situations affects one`s
perceptions and feelings. The vision such an
experience creates in an artist produces works
such as mine. |

I`m
an Argentine artist, 23 years old now. I`ve been
developing a plastic vision centered on medicine
and how it affects feelings and behaviours as one
grows up. This theme was imposed to me at an
early age by experiences with hospitals and the
such. I don`t regard this, however, as something
limiting, but more as a lens through which to
view reality. My field of work goes back and
forth between painting and object-sculpture. I`ve
been exposing basically in Argentina, both
individually and in groups. My background is as a
sculptor, having studied resin and acrylic since
I was twelve. In between all those years I`ve
received traditional painting education, which
has enabled me to confront my experiments
regading technique and materials. I`ve studied
Conservation, centered on paintings, and Arts
History. My art today pretends to explore freely
all the feelings within myself, based on an open
aproach to technique. |

My work, technically, would be in
the limit between painting, sculpture and object.
My relationship with the plasticity of the
materials makes me feel closer to painting as the
canvas many times serves to support the piece,
which is generally a sculpture, which can be
modelled or cast, but over which resin may be
used in the manner of paint. I use acrylic,
polyester, and what would be defined as
"other" materials, whatever serves my
purpose at the moment, (and can be caught within
my resin). I believe my work to be
representative, although not always figurative.
Regarding the themes I choose (or were chosen for
me), for the most part it all has to do with
medicine. When at ten I had to undergo an
operation with gamma rays in order to burn a knot
of veins in my brain, the experience and the
following treatment modified and prepared my
vision of the world in it`s whole, perhaps
imposing a recurrent theme for my work. I`ve been
interested in many different aspects of medicine,
everything from ruined childhoods to exploring
the point of view of the pacient, making even the
ascetic aspect of hospitals contagious to some of
my work. |
