Wabisabi #2
Galvanized steel and human bodily fluids
(72X60 in.)

"Life is
about change and impermanence. It slowly strips away everything
we hold dear, everything we've learned, all we desire, every
belief system and construct we have adopted to hold things
together and give our lives meaning. Before each of us are
reduced to the inevitable pile of dust we will become, we
get to live at a time where we are bombarded with more images,
sound and information than ever before in history. |

It seems however, the faster
we go, the more insensitive and less receptive we become.
What we gain in speed, we lose in humaneness. By creating
works of art that are subtle and that slowly reveal themselves,
it is my intention to bring the viewer to a point of stillness.
The work asks that the viewer slow down and suspend regular
programmed viewing, so that a shift of consciousness may occur
and effect a small but positive change in the world."
