When I started painting, I had one little
child and another was on it's way. At that time I had to paint
the happy feelings of being a mother and becoming a mother
for the second time. But...happiness isn't always predominate
in my life. My life is also influenced by other people, events,
memories, stories, doubts, thoughts, (day)dreams and images
I'm trying to translate and visualize these influences, coming
to me through all my senses, as clear as I can into paintings.
Painting them in the colors as my feelings recall.
I'm not really inspired or influenced by other artists, but
there is one person I admire in particular, the Austrian painter
and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, because he literally
colors the world.
My inspiration is my own life.

Since 1995 she specialises in painting with
acrylic on cotton.
Her paintings find their origin in the artist being a
woman and the images of an imprisoned existence; the housewife
(mother) at home (with her kids), the working woman planning
and making her career. It is not for nothing that one of
her paintings is named "Jail". The last couple
of years Els has had exhibitions (solo as well as group)
in The Hague, Rotterdam, Groenlo and Hoorn in The Netherlands;
Antwerp in Belgium and Bjarred and Malmo in Sweden.
Her art has been bought by both enterprises
and individuals and has been published in a.o. Janus Head
journal (USA).
